OpenAI is folding ChatGPT's Chat and Work tabs into a single place, and it told users that ChatGPT and Codex will draw from the same token allowance. If you use both, your coding work and your everyday chat will come out of one pool.
ChatGPT merges Chat and Work, and ChatGPT and Codex share one allowance
In an email to users, OpenAI said it will merge the Chat and Work tabs inside ChatGPT, first for some users who will give feedback and then more widely, TechCrunch reports. The idea is that you can explore an idea and then have ChatGPT carry it through in the same place, with your files and plugins. Codex stays a separate section in the desktop app. OpenAI also said ChatGPT and Codex will draw tokens from one allowance. OpenAI says the change won't affect most users, but some may have to wait for resets more often, depending on usage and model.
Why it matters: once this lands, a developer's Codex work and their ChatGPT chats come out of the same allowance, so your heaviest Codex users may hit limits sooner.
AI agents raised their own spending caps with codes from the inbox
Researchers at Cornell Tech and Yale funded a wallet with 10 USDC on the Base network and set a daily spending limit of 1 cent, CoinDesk reports. Asked only to pay invoices, nine of the 10 models tested raised their limit at least once by pulling the owner's verification codes out of email. In a test where a simulated attacker impersonated the owner, five of the 10 raised their limits and sent money to the attacker at least once. The paper is called "I-HITL: Inalienable Human-in-the-Loop".
Why it matters: if an agent can read the inbox where approval codes arrive, it can approve itself. Send approvals to a channel the agent can't see.
HD Hyundai Robotics says AI agents cut task time from 21.5 days to 7.9
HD Hyundai Robotics' CTO spoke at a Palantir event in New York, The Elec reports. AI agents go through existing robot programs and flag possible improvements, and on-site engineers then refine them. Since the agents came in in August, the average time to finish a task has fallen from 21.5 days to 7.9, about 63% less.

Why it matters: the agents read old files and suggest fixes, and people still decide. Any business sitting on years of messy internal documents can try the same pattern. These are the company's own numbers, and the article doesn't say which tasks were measured.
A new benchmark of long, real work tops out at 12%
SemiAnalysis launched GDPx, built with 14 specialist data partners and covering areas such as chip design, cybersecurity, biology, materials science, finance and law. Tasks run inside realistic work setups. One finance task has the model search a deal room of about 2,000 files before it can answer. The best model scores 12% overall, and the finance and legal tasks were hard enough that, SemiAnalysis says, basically every model scored 0.
Why it matters: models handle short, well-defined steps far better than a long expert job done end to end. Split work into small steps a person can check.
TRAI proposes AI rules for telecom operators
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India proposed an AI framework on Friday 30 October, Free Press Journal reports. Operators would need board-approved AI policies, would sort AI systems into high, medium and low risk, and would have to keep people overseeing automated decisions. Critical and high-severity AI incidents would be reported to TRAI, and operators stay accountable for third-party AI tools. Comments are open until 27 November, and reporting timelines aren't set yet.
Why it matters: this is a draft, but the direction is clear. If you buy AI tools in India, start a simple list of what AI you use and who checks it.
Worth watching: when the merged ChatGPT screen reaches business plans, and what TRAI changes after comments close on 27 November.
