AI today: Oracle puts ChatGPT and Codex inside its business software, IBM gives AI agents an ID and a kill switch (28 Oct 2026)

Oracle and OpenAI said at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas that ChatGPT and Codex are coming inside Oracle's business software, according to Oracle's announcement. One of the four new products is a bundle aimed at small businesses, which makes this more than a big-company story.

Oracle and OpenAI bring ChatGPT and Codex into Oracle's apps

Oracle AI Workspace lets staff use ChatGPT plugins to find information and run approved workflows across Fusion Applications, NetSuite, Oracle's database and its cloud. App Composer lets employees build apps with Codex without coding skills, and AI Security Mesh is a managed service that uses OpenAI's cyber models to find and fix vulnerabilities. The AI SMB Bundle is "free-to-start", includes $12,000 of Oracle cloud credits a year, and packs in ChatGPT Business, Codex and NetSuite QuickStart for invoicing and cash flow, with terms and restrictions that apply. The announcement gives no release dates.

Why it matters: if you already run on NetSuite or Oracle, the AI may soon come to you inside the software you use. Ask your partner what the bundle's terms are before you sign anything.

IBM gives each company AI agent an owner, an ID and a kill switch

IBM announced Agent Identity and HashiCorp Vault 2.2 on 27 October. Each agent gets a record of who owns it and what it may do, short-lived credentials limited to what it needs, and access that can be revoked in real time. Teams also get a kill switch to shut down any agent, while tools that find agents running on Amazon Bedrock, Microsoft Foundry or Google Gemini are still in tech preview.

An agent ID card with four fields: owner, what it may do, credentials that expire, and revoke or kill switch
What IBM's new agent controls cover for each agent, from IBM's announcement.

Why it matters: you don't need IBM to do this. Keep a simple list of every agent you run, who owns it and how to switch it off.

OpenAI says its models proved three long-open results

On 26 October OpenAI said its internal models produced a disproof of the Exponential Time Hypothesis in computer science, a proof of the local smoothing conjecture in maths, and an existence proof for certain quantum field theories in physics, Unite.AI reports. OpenAI says the computer-science result was verified in Lean, a proof-checking tool, and it published write-ups and Lean proofs on GitHub. These are OpenAI's claims for now.

Why it matters: the method is the useful part. One system does the work and a separate checker confirms it, and the same setup is what makes AI output safe to rely on in your accounts or contracts.

SpaceX lines up a $40bn lease for AI chips

Apollo says SpaceX has a binding commitment for an approximately $40 billion finance lease of GPUs and related equipment, including NVIDIA Vera Rubin chips. The compute is meant to power Grok for businesses and consumers, and the lease starts when the GPUs are delivered, expected in the first half of 2027.

Why it matters: AI companies are now financing chips with deals this size, and that money has to be paid back somewhere. Expect AI prices to keep moving.

Google's Genie 4 builds worlds with sound and talking characters

Google DeepMind's Genie 4 makes photoreal video you can change with plain-language prompts, and it now adds audio and lets characters talk to each other, Gizmodo reports. It's a limited research preview for a small group of testers, with Google AI Ultra subscribers next, and no date given. The report says it still struggles at times to keep visuals and audio consistent.

Why it matters: it's a prototyping toy today. Training simulations and product walk-throughs are the business uses to keep an eye on.

Indian IT stocks slip as AI money piles up elsewhere

All 10 stocks in the NSE IT index were trading lower on the morning of 27 October, with Infosys down 2.31% and TCS down 2.09% by midday, BusinessToday reports. It tied the fall to Anthropic's planned IPO and Meta's share sale. Meta priced $25 billion of common stock and $12.5 billion of convertible preferred shares the same day, for general corporate purposes.

Why it matters: investors are betting that AI will eat into outsourced IT work. If you pay for support or maintenance contracts, ask your vendor what AI now does in them, and what that should cost.

Worth watching: when Oracle's small-business bundle actually opens, and what its terms say.
